Is it an alternative to a mountain bike? What are they like compared to a hardtail mountain bike and do the drop handle bars make for an 'interesting' time when off road?

Is the gryphon a laidback version of the Swift or just as capable trail banger?

They are an improvement.

Just cos some bloke called shiggy rants about it on the internet doesn't make it so 🙄

quote from shiggy;

Not a setup for everyone. I do not claim it to be.

Meh, he wouldn't survive 10 minutes on here with a reasonable attitude like that...

Nevertheless, they do seem to work quite well, especially when decending.

And as a bike, are they a good off roader? Anyone own one and can share their experience with me?

I like mine.

If you're not used to riding offroad on a rigid bike with drops you might not like it.

Not quite sure what a trail banger is but i wouldn't describe a Grypho as one.
It's more a bike for thinking about what's on the trail in front and trying to ride smooth.
