You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I recently bought this bike http://www.wiggle.co.uk/verenti-isolation-cx12-singlespeed-2015/ and I'm trying to change the rear sprocket out from a 15 teeth to a 18 tooth but can't get the rear wheel out.
I've loostened the bolt and the screws and the chain but can't get the wheel out of the frame, help
I had to remove my caliper when i had a similar set up. Lucky for me i had a hope rear hub so i converted to to 10mm bolt thru which meant i could then just pull out the 10mm bolt qr and it left enough space to slide it out with caliper still in place
Blimey , that must be a pain on the trails, is it the same for repairing a puncture, !!!!
Yup it was on mine anyway. That said i used to pull the tube out with the wheel still on and look for the puncture.
As above, you'l need to drop the chain onto the BB shell, then loosen the upper bolt for the calliper adaptor and remove the lower bolt entirely. This will allow the calliper to pivot around the upper bolt and allow the wheel to be removed.
Slot dropouts are a rubbish idea.
EDIT: doh, singlespeed!
What is it contacting with to stop it coming out?
For my Genesis ioid, I use a QR skewer and Hop hubs with two cogs. Rear wheel removal involves dropping the chain and removing the skewer. I run tubeless and expect my race to be over in the event of a wheel change!
Slot dropouts are a great idea, but are not necessarily the fastest option for wheel changes.
Its the rotor not coming out of the callipers, gonna be a nightmare if get a puncture.
I got it to do the Cyclocross season on
Like I said, run a conventional freehub with QR, remove skewer and drop the wheel down not backwards. I assume it's not spaced 120mm. I'd also strongly advise tubeless if you want to avoid punctures.
Since you are racing, you'd want a second set of wheels, so why not try my advice?
Mine is 26" singlespeed with the same rear facing dropouts and tension bolts. I use two Surly cogs and choose based on course and mud.
Bit of a thread hijack, but OP, how do you rate the bike? I'm very tempted to get this as a commuter bike - I've had SS commuter bikes before, but like the idea of having discs too.
Cheers
