I see a few manufacturers spec their SS bikes with Truvativ E400 chainsets. I've had a quick look, but can't see these for sale. Are they OEM chainsets, and if so, are there similar SS chainsets aavailable? Or to ask another way, which chainsets (not necessarily cheapos) are recommended for SS use?

Middleburn sponsor me so I'm biased. Having said that, I wouldn't use them if I didn't think they were great. They are lovely cranks and make for a really tidy SS-specific setup. I've got the fat version on my Puffin:

If your budget doesn't stretch to them, Deore will do the job well enough.

Thanks. I like the look of the Middleburn Uno. I think a bike shop near me has a set in stock, so I might go and pay a visit.

I quite like the look of those Middleburn cranks, I think I might opt for a set of them for my SS rather than the XX1 cranks I was thinking about getting 😀
