IMG_6423Just trying to solve a very sticky freewheel on my daughters frog 44.

She’s annoyed that the cranks turn when she pushes it, I’m annoyed how draggy it is.

We’ve managed to remove the single speed cog from the wheel, I had assumed I’d be able to disassemble the cog/freewheel assembly and regrease it, but the cog/freewheel is a sealed unit.

Is this standard for a single speed?
Can I revive it?
Or do I just buy a new one?

My lad had the same on his Isla bike, I blasted it with gt85 and let it dry out. Heated it up

Smeared the gap with grease and turned the cog to "work it in" as it was hot the grease was thin, then let it cool. Was better but still pretty shite

Spray a load of GT85 or WD40 in there.

That'll fix it.

I would try using a solvent to clean out the freewheel then dunk in a bath of oil

I actually had it soaking in a tray of gt85 as I posted, just taken it for a test ride, it’s solved for now! (Ever ridden a frog 44? They’re very flickable if you’re nearly 6’. Probably could use a bit more reach to calm it down). May get a new cog on order though.
