So this is my list of stuff I have decided for my 2010 P7 to be converted to ss. Please feel free to slate/ advise

1. VeloSolo 1/8 32t chain ring
2. Halo Fat foot 1/8 16t cog with 7mm HG type spline foot. (Will this be ok for a hope free hub)?
3. Halo ss spacers
4. KMC Z510 XC chain 1/8
Comes in at about £60 ish give or take a few quid mostly from Charley bike monger and the chain ring from velo solo.

I do have a SS commuter on 42/18 but am a bit apprehensive about this project, I live near Dundee and bike mostly at Pitmedden, Dunkeld ect.
Thanks in advance for advice/ slating 😯

£15 for splined SS cog from on-one (fits Hope freehub fine)
£20 for BMX half link chain
Use existing 32T chain ring.

Yeh I looked at the on one cog but figured that the 7mm width on the Halo will hopefully prevent damage to the free hub body.

Also I figured the existing chain ring will be at more risk of dropping the chain.

i got a surly single rear cog thingy from Charlie, and it works fine on a hope freehub, no nasty chewing up like i get with an xt cassette.

edit add - the surly cog base is a lot wider than a normal cassette cog, hence no chewing!

Looks good! If you have quite a narrow bar, you may find a nice wide bar will give more leverage to hoick on when mashing up hills. Enjoy the freedom from gears. 🙂

@ mattstreet, nice one I will have a look at wide bars, what you think flat or rise?

Superstar wide base cogs haven't damaged my Pro2.
Still can't get used to the fact that SS can feel slow, but Strava shows it's not. Just been out round Whinlatter in pouring rain and times on 32:16 (which had me dabbing a few times) were similar to geared bike.

spando - riser or flat? whatever looks best! 🙂 Someone suggested I got wider bars on the SS, so I went from a 625mm bar to 685mm - just a cheap EA30 riser. Made a big difference, but you may want to see how you get on with your current setup first.
