I always get bitten on the lower leg/calf. Anyway I found these in the shed (not used for years). They completely cover the ankle to your knee.

Are they still for sale??

Dunno. That photo looks like some sort of neoprene. It doesn't get any sweatier than that. At least walking gaiters can be left open at the top for a bit of ventilation (in fact, Mountain Hardwear do ventilated gaiters but I'm guessing the mesh panels might not be insect-proof enough for you).

Er....

Rather than needlessly complicating the issue (Yes, I forgot, it's STW) why not just put a long pair of socks on?

Got to be less sweaty than neoprene gaiters or even eVent walking gaiters. They also come in a range of fetching colours.
