Hi,

I am in need of a new cassette and just wanted to check that nothing had changed in the world of fittings as the hub/cassette I am using is a few years old.

Its a shimano XT jobbie with the lockring.

Also just wanted to check that I wont have any problems using a sram cassette when everything else is shimano.

Im thinking of a pg-970 with a sram chain as i like the powerlink

It'll be fine

The only things (so long as they're the same, e.g number of gears) that don't mix between SRAM and Shimano drivetrain are rear trigger shifters and mechs

(And external BBs - I think?)

Think ill go ahead and order, got some powerlinks as well.
I heard that the sram chains are stronger (not sure how much truth there is int that) but its whats on there at the mo and im happy with it.

Just hope the cassette isnt made of cheese
