Fitting new cables and have removed old ones. Have threaded new cable through the shifters, through the housing and through the rear mech and tightened. However, when I move the gear shifter the rear mech does'nt move - what have I done wrong? (old XT shifters and XTR rear mech)
I'm sure there's a simple solution but...
is there any tension on the cable when you click the shifter??
did you thread it correctly through the shifter??
Is the cable nipple located in the correct position in the lever, it sounds like youve installed it incorrectly.
wow- very fast replies
when you say is the nipple in the correct postion, you mean?
and no, there's no tension

Reverse rise mech?

Anytime Hitman 😀
get a grown up fix it for you 🙂
Undo the cable from the mech and hold it in your hand, pulling on it. Shift with the shifter - can you feel the cable getting pulled through? If not, then either the cable isn't installed in the shifter right, or the shifter is screwed?
At a guess.
