I have recently bought a Thomson stem from the LBS, (367mm, layback model). Decided after 3 rides it is too short, which really pickles my gonads. If I raise it up (beyond the top of the maximum height line), it feels much better on climbs.
Anyway, I think the LBS has done enough to help me build up the new bike and I don't want to hassle them anymore, so I am going to by a longer (410 mm) post. Other one will go on ebay or wife's hardtail, she is so lucky I am so romantic...
I was thinking of putting a silver colored Thomson post on my Giant and since I managed to bend the cheese qr seat collar, I was going to order a Hope one to match. My bike is silver (with green Focus RS/vomit/bile green accents). Will I look like a tool with a silver bike and silver seat posts?
Anyone got any photos before I spend another fortune on ill fitting (or ill advised) kit for my bike.

I'm about to build up a Felt Virtue frame that is brushed aluminium. I initially wondered about the same thing but that frame has a carbon rear triangle and I'll be fitting a black fork, so I'm going with black seat post and bars.
Nowt wrong with silver as long as it matches the finish on the frame, though.

How are you finding the front end round tight corners?
iain1775 - whoops, meant to say thomson post! Although I think my first mtb had a nice 110mm+ stem, ace...
My other finishing kit is mostly black - forks, stem (70mm!!), bars, wheels, cranks etc.
If everything else is black I would go with a black post with either for the QR
Although I'm sure silver for the lot would also be perfectly fine
I think bars and post should be same colour
