I have a set/pair of Odyssey 41 Thermal cranks that use a 19mm axle.
I’m “attempting” to fit them to an Azonic Stealhead frame using a Gusset 19mm Euro BB (threaded cups meant for a 19mm axle).
I fitted the BB cups - bit of an issue with the internal spacer, I think it needs shortening - but the interference fit I was expecting from the axle with the bearings is all actually a bit wizards sleeve!
I could guess that when assembled and preloaded the cranks ought to at least make contact with the bearings through the spacers but the axle won’t be resting in the bearing a la HT2, dub etc etc.
What am I likely doing wrong/missing?
Is it the smooth or splined bit you've got contacting the bearing? If it's the latter it will never fit, you need an extra long axle to fit an outboard bearing.
BSD definitely do them, so do Gusset I think though I'm not sure if either will be the right diameter or spline count.
<p>None of the axle contacts the bearings!</p><p>The axle, that is definitely 19mm, just slides through the bearings in the BB cups. It feels like the ID of the bearings is greater than 19mm.</p>
The bearings have an ID of 20mm (6804 RS)
I find bmx stuff is so clunky and industrial - struggling a bit with my 3 piece cranks / chainring - like the chainring won’t stay properly central to the cranks.
My axle is snug within its bearings though. Think mine is 19mm with a euro press fit bb.
edit - mine is a ‘mid’ bb not a euro one. Think euro is threaded and mid has a bigger outer diameter bearing that presses in. 19mm axle though.

Agree. Remember running some Azonic 3pc cranks on my old Curtis SuperX back in the day and they required constant messing with shims/washers, having them tighten mid ride etc. Hollowtech-type cranks are a bazillion times better, lighter and I'd guess plenty strong enough for 99% of applications.
