While out for a family walk from Llanbedr (near Crickhowell, Brecon Beacons), I saw a few green arrow signs marking a Mountain Bike Route. I’ve seen these elsewhere nearby and some of my favourite trails are marked with the same signs. Does anyone know if this is a single route (maybe from an event) or several in the area? Are maps of the routes available?
I’m kind of new to the area and always on the lookout for decent routes.
Go to the bike shop in Tallybont, they have maps and lots of helpful info.
Probably:
The routes were quite well signposted originally but - unless they've been refreshed since the last time I was there (July) - you'd be hard-pressed to follow them now!
Samcheese is probably right. I live round here and the signs can be vaguely helpful when you have a route planned out already but I wouldn't rely on there presence. The routes were not fantastic either being limited to definite bridelways and roads. Drop us a line as I've lived nearby for 16 years now.
There's a few guys based round Abergavenny who ride from the Gateway shop, a few who ride with Abergavenny RC, a load in Talgarth and others in Talybont, Bwlch and Llangynidr so you should be able to connect with some of us
I've stayed in Llanbedr may times (Perth-y-Pia, Glebe barn) and there are plenty of bike routes available if you look at the OS maps. It's probably a better bet for walking, though.
