I am thinking of putting my hand in my pocket and buying better SPD shoes than the usual 'whatever's cheap'.
So , first, are Sidis worth it?
Second how do they size up? I usually need 48 in normal euro sizes but do I need to go up or down with Sidis?
Yes.
I've some carbon soled Sidi XC shoes ( had them a few years ) and they are lovely.
They are a very narrow fitted shoe and very stiff.
I don;t walk in these - mainly worn for racing
I think they are an Italian sizing - which means they are small. But it depends how you like your shoes.
I want mine snug.
I've been using SIDI for 30+ years, usually go up half to one full size from measured shoe size.
Yeah really good shoes narrow and size one up
I've always wanted some and took a gamble on some new but retro Dominator 5 Fit for the grand sum of £30 at a local bike jumble.
They are awesome, my best shoes ever (previous: Shimano, Specialized, Bontrager & others).
Buy some.
Half-size up is my usual with Sidi - had a few pairs over the years and my road shoes are 20+ years old and you can still buy spares - try doing that with a pair of 2 year old shoes from some other brands
I think the size up thing might scupper my plans as there seem very few Sidis in 49!
Timely. I've always wanted a pair of Sidi's and with my 5yo Spec falling apart after 2 repairs already... seen any relative bargains?
I have two pairs of the sidi trace 2. My newer pair feels looser that the originals so I don't know if the material shrinks a bit over time or maybe just stiffens up.
