Got my new Sidi Epics t'day, i've been waiting for Sidi to make a shoe that is a good crossover for off-road/Road use and they haven't dissapointed.
Very well made and the sole has decent flex where it needs it for walking but it's stiff enough to not notice the pedals when you stomp down. Heading out now for a filthy night ride F'narr...F'narr as they are too new looking to wear in daylight.
I sized up half a size on advice and they fit perfect.
Ahhh, after 2 years in mavics i'm happy to be back with Sidi and they're just what i've been after for Tripster riding.
Big fan of Sidi generally, but really can't stomach anything that's named 'Epic'.
Eew. Couldn't be done with laces...
Could you post a short review on how these are working for you? Positive and negatives? I'm also curious about ease of entry with all that rubber surrounding the cleat.
Look like early 2000s Spesh Tahoes.
Pretty much all positive if i'm honest, very comfortable with a well recessed cleat so you can walk around without any clickity-clack of the cleat, grippy sole for scrambling/climbing and the laces aren't an issue, they allow you to tailor the fit - just make sure you do them up nice n' tight then tuck the laces under the velcro strap. I use them with xtr trail spds and there's no issue with ease of entry - very well constructed and i'd be happy to buy another pair if these ever wear out. I also use Fizik M5b but the sole is very stiff so i only use these for road rides on the tripster.
You could even go bowling in those.
What was wrong with a pair of Dominators?
"What was wrong with a pair of Dominators?" They are great XC shoes as long as there is minimal hike-a-bike involved. They just don't grip in wet or muddy rocks, roots, etc.
I'm trying to decide between the Epics and the 5.10 Kestrels. I think both Sidi and 5.10 can make quality footwear, although I've read where the Kestrels are having issues with delamination.
