Seeking second opinions please. Worth the risk to keep riding this? Hasn't gone all the way through but some damage to the snakeskin layer (Super Trail Magic Mary). Given I'm trying to get round Ard Moors next week without landing on my face I should probably cough up for a new tyre yeah? Sidewall Damage

If you did want to risk it then I'd be tempted to patch up the inside and perhaps put a little glue on the outside as well

Similar problem here. What can you patch them with? Will the glue from a puncture repair kit work?

An old puncture repair kit is a good start, I bought an old fashioned downhill inner-tube (eg 1 eg 2 eg 3) and cut sections from that for sidewall patches. I usually stick one on each side. Looks a dog but does the job IME.

otoh though, if I was looking at that the week before an event I'd be buying a new tyre to be honest

I’d replace it for the race but if the rest of the tyre is in good condition try repairing it for less critical rides!

Riding from the door, I'd ride that - maybe with a patch on the inside.

Travelling for an event.... New tyre.

Sitting in a&e with a misshapen hand now anyway so probably doesn't matter too much! Thanks for the input though 🙂

Well I guess now you know if you needed to fix it or not!

I’d be patching that with the sidewall of a worn out tyre on the outside and an old cut up inner tube on the inside (only if it’s leaking). You’ll need some “stuff” as well as a full can of red bull (or similar sized round thing)

Put the cement on not the tyre and the patches and let it go off for 5 mins, then, with the can of red bull acting as a former inside the tyre stick them together. If you can support the tyre by the can with something pressing on the patch and leave it all overnight that’s ideal.

Edit: ow! Hope you get better!

To me, if it's not bulging and not leaking tubeless sealant, I'd keep using it as a rear tyre.
