Hi all, can anyone direct me to a MTB club who do regular weeknight or weekend rides in the Shropshire area if indeed there is such a thing in the age of the internet. My lad is interested in getting out with some older riders who can show him routes etc. Thanks.

Lots of shops do regular rides, like Trailhead in Shrewsbury. The Wild Wednesday Wheelers are on Facebook, you just need to ask to join 🙂

Yep, as steamtb says The Trailhead in Shrewsbury have just started up their shop rides again after 18 months off. Usually a Tues eve and they run every couple of weeks. I think there was going to be one more before Xmas, get your lad to keep an eye on Instagram for the details, the last ride was up the Stiperstones.

Trailhead rides used to be alternate Tuesdays, they've only just started after lockdown last one was a couple of weeks ago and there is supposed to be one more before Christmas with things getting more regular afterwards. I suspect next Trailhead ride is likely to be 14th December because I've not seen anything about it on their pages so unlikely to be next week. Check out their SM pages for details.

Wild Wednesday Wheelers ride every Wednesday (obvs) at 7pm for a couple of hours around the shire. The main group is the B ride mostly a relatively social not crazy tech route, they also have an A ride that is faster (and more tech) and depending on numbers/location occasionally a C ride which is similar pace to the B's but more tech/gnar. Details are circulated on an email week by week next Wednesday is the start of the Christmas town rides meeting at the sports village, they also do occasional weekends to Wales. There is a sub-group that ride on a Tuesday too but they tend to be more borders focussed. They have a FB page which is worth joining but best to then get onto the mailing list for details.

I don't know if they are doing them at the moment, but I have been out with Pearce cycles on shop rides in the past. Hopton woods and Mortimer forest usually.
