Hi - can anybody recommend a pair? Have had altura attack but were so waterproof onky really good in torrential rain.
Endura
reviews on CRC seem to flip flop between great and falls apart.
Looking for a softshell pair that I could wear on big days out with out over heating.
Any suggestions would be well received.
Thanks.
Massive Endura fan here. MT500's worked perfectly for me last winter over a pair of bib shorts and are quite packable if things start to get a bit too hot. (Means you end up riding in just lycra though )
Yeah seem to fit the brief. The workmanship is causing me to hesitate...
Cheeky post - check Classifieds!
Second time today that I’ve recommended Polaris but their AM 500 repel shorts are good vfm. They aren’t as fully water resistant as some shorts but are light and airy enough to wear in any weather. The fit is good too.
MT500 Spray Baggies and 3/4's here - they held up fine through last winter. Currently using Endura MTR's which are also quite spray repellent, certainly moreso that Singletracks, which are now not seeing much use...
Madisons I have worked pretty well last winter. Not perfect (as in not 100% waterproof), but a decent cut (longer than normal shorts, tapered round the knee but big enough for pads and option of making closing gap with velcro). Certainly better than the Sombrios I ran previously.
Came up a little small size-wise, so try before you buy. I'd certainly buy again.
Am selling a pair of men's Madison Addict waterproof shorts:
madison addict here. Really rate them (much better than endura i've had before)
I've just bought a pair of the waterproof Polaris shorts, they're currently half price on the Polaris website. Not actually used them in anger yet but they do look like they may get a bit sweaty when it's not torrential conditions. Their normal shorts are pretty decent in light showers though, they've lasted me a long time and haven't fallen apart yet.
Gore Bike Wear Alp X Pro softshell shorts, got mine for £50 last year. There are some in the sales at around that price depending on your size.
Perfect in showers, even holds up well in good downpours and keeps you well regulated temperature wise - doesnt get too hot but keeps your legs warm.
I'd rate these as probably my best pair of shorts.
