Why can't I have a Singular with a short top tube? Or any other 29er to be honest. I'm a short arse who wants to runs drops, 2"+ tyres and discs. The shortest pergrine is just about there but I want a higher front end. Something like a Salsa Fargo but lighter.
Still doesn't look right to me
Sounds like you need a Gryphon matt.

Really must get pics of my 3 29er's sorted out as the only ones i have are cr&p 🙄
Militant Graham's bikes are nice but i'd rather have his Land Rover!
My 29er Inbred as they've been surprisingly sparse in this thread so far!
Not ridden it in a couple of months now, but still loving big wheels overall... Might finally get round to getting some "summer" tyres for it and get it out on the trails whilst they're nice and quick!
Mattccm
I am fairly short of leg and ran my swift on drops with a sensible stem i also have a gryphon set up in a similar way which is just lovely
Where are you based as your welcome to a little go on the gryphon .

My newest, a Rumblefish2, the most industrial strength FS I have yet ridden. This seemed like a good place to pose the photos.
Here is the 2008 HiFi, which I still ride.
that seems like a reasonable law you have there Repack
Ho much (lbs) are these SS rigid Swifts coming in at?
They seem very popular here, either that or their riders take more pictures of their steeds than the rest of us!
Hey Sam, if it's not considered highly secret, how many Swifts have actually been sold - seems like a lot of them are here!
blimey petesgaff, that is bright!!

There are actually a few hundred getting around now - this is but a small portion - global domination will yet be mine 😉

Thanks for the advice. I'm starting with copper to get used to marking out and achieving the shapes I need. I've then got 3 metres of Columbus cro-mo to go at. Apart from shipping costs it is just as cheap to use basic Columbus tube compared to trying to find mild steel that isn't gas pipe / conduit. Packing the tube with dry sand seems to help avoid kinks and crinkles.
A few early pics are at on the Italian ss mafia's blog site - the chainstays have changed shape considerably since then. I really want to do a nice big sweep bend in the seat tube (not the tight bend shown) but it means making a big crescent template to drag the tube round - not sure if I can be bothered for a first proto.

Hurry up and get the new frames in then, you've no idea quite how upsetting these threads are to me at the moment.

I promise you - it's happening as quickly as I can possibly make it happen.
That's my name-sake!
What happened?
Under warranty? How long is the warranty? Is it one of the 2nd batch (?) re-designed with a brace?
What happened? I spotted a couple of cracks behind the seatpost.
Under warranty? Too **** right.
How long is the warranty? Lifetime.
Is it one of the 2nd batch? Nope. First batch.
re-designed with a brace? Nope

i'm in the FoD and would love even a look at one. Its really my dodgy wrists that cuase the problems hence the need for a short top tube. Seem to remember that Gryphons don't go short enough. Would bve nice to be wrong. Matt
rootes1 - Giant Anthem 29er
that's the one i'm waiting for 🙂
EDIT; don't think the x3 or x4 will be quite as flash though 🙁
Some nice wide flat bars in use there. What's everyone using ?
Truvativ World Cup singlespeed. 700mm wide and 10degree sweep.

think all the current anthems look good, so hopefully 29er versions will all look cool as well
here's mine
Got rebas on it now.

really? want to borrow my specs? 😉
Looks like I'm not niche enough, but here's another Swift:
yer Orange swift is more niche than the blue ones 😉
Actually I prefer the blue, but at time did not want EBB and zipped tied gear cables..
rOcKeTdOg - really? want to borrow my specs?
predictable 😯

in that's it's always been my opinion about the Giant maestro suspension bikes, the yes, you are correct
rOcKeTdOg, i was going to second rootes1's opinion of the anthems before you had chance to question his eye sight but alas i was too late 😆
anyway, i'm getting dragged along by this whole 29er thing so when you put gears back on your swift (you know it's only a matter of time 😉 ) can i have a go? 🙂
SS is fine for Warwick trails, after spending all my time out of the saddle up The Lickeys on monday night gears might be going on quite soon!
....roll on Oct though 😉

Drooling over all these. My Scandal and carbon forks are in the post so ill join the club soon 🙂 was wondering whether to go ss or geared but the SS stuff here is so nice I have made up my mind.
Mine's been SS since I got it in January, I like it, but I don't like the lack of speed with an easier gearing, the bad climbing of a harder gear, and the middle ground just sucks. I've only last week decided to go for a minimal amount of gears to get me about better.
rOcKeTdOg - Stu, 9 gears enough for you?
yep, you got a plan?
Apart from the bent seatpost that looks well nice

deaky... one gear, big wheels, rigid forks and whacky bars... you're just not right 😉
you out tomorrow? 🙂
I will be out Stu but not in the morning. Just about to go to a BBQ and I don't think I'll be in a fit state for the morning ride 😛
Im late in on this one, but just built this 🙂
Thanks to STW users for the Frame and Wheels (and other odd bits over the years)
YEs I know that tensioner looks like a deore mech...! I am thinking that if 36:20 works for me, I can get the perfect tension with a 1/2 link and a tiny bit of dropout filing....
which Brooks saddle is that?
mboy what colour frame is your on one please?
rOcKeTdOg
which Brooks saddle is that?
Its a Swift ti, quite fancy a Swallow though but may have to sell one of the kids to fund it.
tazzymtb - Memberanother one from Taz's fugly bike collection
Taz hows the Scandal working out? Looks good 🙂
goes like a ****er thanks Ferrit, although I'm going to get a sticker with
"can I have some bike with my seatpost please?" made up
ha brilliant, but you could alway have a couple of inches trimmed from your lower legs. Glad you happy with it, it was crying out to be built up and ridden.
put some blocks under the wheels to raise the top tube a bit, then you can drop the saddle
that's so cunning I could put a tail on it and call it a fox!
😀
Deaky is that the 2011 Unit frame?
rOcKeTdOg - and move the brake levers away from the "jedi" positionhow's it ride?
oh and...
the "jedi" position helps me stay my side of the bars... not always mind. rides good, tyres were a bit shite for wetter conditions and i was nervous at first as i thought the rigid forks would have me going off at tangents on wet rootes but it was all good, still seemed to have plenty of energy left after 3+ hours... maybe i just ate less pies! 🙂
what's with the misfit, can't be yours, it's only got one gear 😉

doesn't the chain bounce of the rear cog or have you some ingenious device back there?
No magic device back there. I've only ridden it for about an hour but no problems yet.
