Here's mine from last nights club ride after 0.3 of a mile.
First one in hospital straight after clean up, they had to inject anesthetic into the wounds and that hurt more than the injury.
The other two are the next day(this morning)bit swollen and now have a top lip like Marge Simpson. So can someone recommend a light full face helmet.

[IMG] [/IMG]

rode over old fence wire sprung up, caught chainset and stopped bike dead.

was ridign alone so took picture to assess damage. Normally I can sneak in the house and have a shower to wash the worst of the evidence away before I'm spotted ("Why is you leg at that angle?" "just scraped it a bit, it's just a flesh wound"). Wasn't really an option on this occasion.

Still have scar on forehead where helmet peak dug in.

It was the rock garden on Skyline wot done it... Cracked my helmet, and have scars on my mouth from 14 stitches. Couldn't talk, smile, drink or eat. You have my sympathy lipseal! Hope it gets better quickly. I used Rosehip seed oil from Neal's Yard on my face, very good for helping skin to heal.

[IMG] [/img]

Oh and I remember the anaesthetic injection straight into the wounds.... owwwwwww!

That's brilliant!

I don't know whether I've not being going fast enough, or whether I'm lacking the self confidence to believe in myself beyond the point of no return, but I've always been able to get my heels over the bars before anything awful happens.

Probably not trying hard enough.

This was the result of what was going to be a gentle ride on Dartmoor but only after half a mile - BANG - things were going so well up to then ...

right after the crash

This was me a few hours later after a visit to A&E

[img] [/img]

The next day with the scars/scabs...

[img] [/img]

I was fortunate not to have any stitches but I was super glued together on the worst cuts 🙂

Had my worst plant on my road bike - broken collarbone, ribs, punctured left lung and some extraordinary road rash. All in the name of finding out that riding a fixed gear on a Monday is not the best after taking my mtb 'round the Quantocks on Saturday...they just don't mix. No pics unfortunately - my wife was too squeamish. I do have some decent scars though!

Andy thats awesome, i'll have to remember to come out next time your riding. Bet from now on everyone with the cameras will be behind you.

Good entrance into the Stack of the Year award, blood, stitches, A&E, Photos. All that was needed to guarantee the trophy was a broken bone, so you must try harder next time 😆

Crazy legs I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, do that again, please!

On a serious note, when I first started biking back in the day I would go along at a good speed then jam the front brake on. I would then learn to jump over the bars onto my feet and also how to land without injuring myself.

It might not be a bad idea to learn how to do that, get an old bike not a new one and practice jumping over the bars, sound stupid but it is a skill that everyone should have, as sooner or later chances are we are all going over the bars 😯

Some of us will have our heads go one way and our bodies the other while we attempt to plant our faces into the ground, some of us will not 😉 That said if I do I will come back and show everyone the picture!

Can't find the original, but here is one that my friend mocked up after stacking it on a loose corner last year and double breaking my nose:

And a couple of days later:

Incredibly it actually straightened my nose from a previous break.

I did this on the Quantocks in Triscombe last year, also fractured my elbow which i didn't realize until i reluctantly went to A&E the day after. Still managed 12 miles back to the car afterwards though 😆

Day after pic, one tooth knocked clean out, one broken at the root and still in place, bitten through bottom lip, front wheel wash out and face plant in to a root sticking out the bank at the top of pepsi max in the wyre, 5 years on and the teeth marks are still in the root, there is also a deer walking round the forest with a dashing smile 😀

I believe his bike ended up 20 foot futher on down the bank, he didn't look too bad/damaged back at the trail centre.
