I'm a proud krampus owner, don't get me wrong I wouldn't be without it I just fancied some 29+ exotica.

stooo

sto

mk4

the ti stooge speedball is the original that was custom made for me, before the model actually became a thing and got sold as a limited run in steel, its in the next magazine I believe. The raw steel and braze Mk4 was also a one off

Singular Rooster SS. Love riding this bike, Chronicles are l, I think, the perfect tyres for it though tend to only ride it when it’s dry.

Thanks for that tuboflard. Both my Rooster tyres (Dirt Wizard F & Bonty Chupacabra R) are goosed and was wondering what to try next.

Ivan - what forks are they? Ti?

How do they ride, look chunky legs but Ti forks have a rep for being too flexy

Custom titanium from Waltly in China - 7 years old now but still a keeper. Just moved house so it's in storage which is sad given that Glenlivet is just down the road.

Ti custom made by Carver Bikes. No unwanted flex there, all nice and tight. And currently on 3.25" Vee Bulldozer up front.

Cheers!

At ease Private 😉

Finish is a tad different than frame, so quite a few people thinking it is steel.

Cheers!

@bonzodog they are great in dry, loose to soft ground, hopeless in proper mud but roll really well for such a big tyre. Most of my riding is in the Dark Peak and they work wonderfully in that environment I think.

Ace. Cheers for that @tuboflard

The front has a bit of life to be fair so Ill maybe go with a Chronicle on the back. The Chupa's are pretty hopeless in mud too so I wouldnt risk one in the front.

Just searching online for a Chronicle at the moment..

A thread for me!

here is my XCAD custom ginormous LLS 29+ or full fat hardatail. Stans Hugo 50mm rims and DHF/DHR combo. Tires a 'a bit draggy', but I just can't give up the grip.

Mastodon fork, best fork I've ever used (see my other thread about glorious manitou forks)

Best bike I've ever ridden, love of my life, Alps, Bike parks, steeps, sketchy, woodsy singletrack - glorious. And its fits a big fella 🙂

It ain't fun on anything flat, hence gravel bike arriving this week.

Enduro mode:

And in bike packing mode:

Are they 2.6 vittoria barzos on that stooge @tazzymtb ? How are you finding them, and how big do they come up?
Cheers

i like the barzo,I also really like the 2.6 mezcal, size up nicely on a 35mm rim run a bit bigger on a 45mm dually. good summer rubber, bloody awful on wetroots as front tyre but not as bad as knards, chroniclea or the ultimate comedy tyre in wet conditons, the fat b nimble.

to get the best from a stooge mk4 really need a duro crux 3.25 on the front. my all time fave grip monster

Photos of my Rooster are in the classifieds (unsubtle stealth ad, although it is relevant to the topic).

I'm getting a 29+ wheelset made at the moment for my fat bike. Seeing the pictures on here is making me want to get them on the bike asap! Still not sure what tyres to go for though. Mainly ride the South Downs so lots of flinty chalk. Any recommendations?

Bontrager do a nice a nice selection and you can try them out for 30 days with a no quibble money back guarantee.

Chronicles seem to be the go to for most people though.

Sadly no pics but I’m a bit of a fan of 29 plus with a few builds ☺️

@raouligan - that’s a beautiful build.

3.25″ Vee Bulldozer up front.

When I tried 29+ this was by far the best tyre. Pretty heavy, but utterly bullet proof. Only one I didn’t destroy on the Stache. Main reason I gave up on it was tyre cost versus the fact 99% of them were seemingly made from paper.

DHF on the front, Chronicle on the back. Perfect combo for all but the sloppiest of conditions.
My local hills are flint mixed with loam. Weird combo! Like riding on greased ball bearings, with added sidewall slices.

Can't seem to link to a pic of my MK4 Stooge.
Suffice to say it's lovely 😎

Just fitted some unnecessary bling in the shape of Paul's Klampers and Love Levers.

not strictly 29x3.0 as it only has room for 2.6 in the rear...but enjoying my Unit:
