That is very period correct beaker - right down to tyres and forks etc.

My Mrs raced for Parkpre that year and had those metallic beige Judy XC.

Her Parkpre Ti Elite now has some 700c wheels squeezed in. Currently with drops and mudguards as her commuter, but also did cx duties for one of the kids.

No idea where the now 25yr old Ti frame was originally made but it has been very durable compared to all the cracked stuff you see on here - especially considering what it has done (xc and downhill bitd, world cups, world champs, Polaris wins, Alps, NZ etc).

Late 1980s Dawes Cougar.

Modified as a quasi path/gravel/rough stuff bike.

Currently SS, and geared for road and mild offroad, but I can't resist a decent track, so it needs a few more gears or I'll blow a blood vessel or something. Decided it's getting a S-A hubgear for Xmas.

Hope to have the rear wheel rebuilt in time for the StrathPootle Memorial Ride.

My one and only bike at the moment, my mental health is suffering big time from not having something I can hoon about on in the mountains, but it gets me out and one day I’ll have saved enough for something new.

Will never get rid of this (again) though, I’ve owned this exact bike 3 times and I love it.

The simplicity of a double diamond frame and older components. 👌

I do like the look of the team Fat Chance bike there, I picked up the Gary Fisher a few weeks ago. I'm sure it's all original even come with an xtr rear mech
Must try and get my Bontrager Privateer looking as good as slackboy
My one was originally black but got it powder coated 20 years ago in red
Looking for a good paintshop

Out on the bike again https://imgur.com/gallery/ulXBbxE

Anyone got a 1990 Marin to post? Lovely bikes, but never seem to feature in these threads

Surprised at the number of Bontragers popping up, here are mine. Blue one has just been powder coated and got back in working order as a bit of a lockdown project. White one got a disk conversion from Dave Yates a few years back

Ah, I had a Privateer too.

Got this for dad bike duties. To say it's heavy would be an understatement..

I adore it. Especially those conical Biopace chainrings.😅

@singlespeedstu those bars look so narrow.

I remember my mate coming round with a hacksaw after he'd read a magazine about how your bars should be just a bit wider than your shoulders. 🤣 I was about 13 so not very wide at all. I seem to remember they were around 500 to 600 wide 😲

Bars were cut to as narrow as they would go while still allowing enough room for grips, brakes and shifters to just fit.😲
