You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
A thread for older (than 3 years) bikes, with chips dents and scratches yet still being ridden, rather than these glossy new machines we see all the time...
Whatcha got, biggest piece of ridable damaged alu/carb/ti/steel wins a booby prize er, well actually nothing really...

The battleship...
Found this lot the day I stripped it to build up a Mojo. This was less than a week returning from Lagos on a full on xc and dh weeks riding...
Bit of cable rub:
That section was also loose, the welds had cracked and in effect, the whole of the shock mount was on its way..
This drop out appears to be a little worn...
Wow, just wow 😯
(You were riding in Lagos? Is there much riding there?)
Lagos Portugal, good riding especially the downhill trails off the volcano.
Ironically had a new warranty swingarm that arrived before I found the cable rub and more serious weld cracks.
Sold the new swing arm and alpine link, frame went out with the recycling along with the other beer cans / bottles...
Miss it though.
It was 6-7 years old, commuted on, ridden in t'ills proper, led hundreds of intro sessions at the centre, towed the kiddy trailer, helped my business move office with the trailer etc etc etc. Sold on here to a good home. Great bike. Really great.

Aha, Lagos Portugal does sound somewhat more feasible than Lagos Nigeria
If cable does that to an ally frame what is it doing to my carbon?

the most inline with the rest of the guides route, but wrong due to above
Park Tool glueless inner tube patches (sort of rubbery feel) on the frame do a great job of resisting cable rub though. Else if it'll look gash, some on the offending hose will do ime.

Replaced one swingarm under warranty, but by the time the second one cracked, they had gone under. So some nice solid gussets instead.
Still has some healthy dents on the down tube & even the bottom bracket shell.
Now retired to street duties.
Now retired to street duties.
Sad, it still looks up to the job to me. 😉
Just a change of tyres & pedals away.
I don't ride this one very much any more...
Joolsburger - I too had that model of Ellsworth and it snapped, though not quite as well as yours!
Only lasted a year and a bit, the PA that replaced it is now nearly five.

user-removed - MemberKona of uncertain age - still being thrown around various local loops on a regular basis. Bit bone-rattling but very good fun! The addition of a stem adaptor and a modern pop up stem has helped the handling no end.
Looks like a 1993 to me, is it a Hahannah? I had one as my first proper mtb.
My 6 year old Blur 4X frame, '07 36 Van RC2 forks, rear wheel is of 2004 vintage, everything else has been replaced in the past 2 years. Have just picked up a DHX5, waiting on new shock top hats through the post to be able to fit it.

It's nice and clean in this pic, but it's far from pretty up close!
