You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm one of the lucky ones in that I'm flat out at work, so in my downtime I've been looking at road bikes. Looking to spend around £2.5k, I'll be going for a bike fit etc but just want to look at some pics to pass the time!
My LBS (15 mins, 10 miles away) said to pop in and they'll show me some at arms length and do a proper fit when social distancing allows, but I don't really think I should be making that trip, even though I guess some are doing that to get to a place for exercising.
Unlikely to excite you much if your budget is £2.5k but I like it!
Rose Xeon Team GF, triple butted aluminium with carbon fork, full Ultegra with Absolute Black oval rings, Fulcrum Racings 3s, GP4000s with latex tubes for Sunday best duties, Specialized Phenom saddle, Ritchey finishing kit. Just sneaks under 8kg. I'm a big Rose fanboi as you can customise the bike when you order it, e.g. tyres, saddles, gear ratios, crank lengths etc which I think adds a lot of value.
Would love to throw some money at it to upgrade for some future European climbing trips but realistically it would be better value just starting afresh (maybe with the Rose X-Lite 4) to get something significantly lighter and a little more aero. Or alternatively just upgrade bits of the drivetrain and stick some Dura Ace wheels on it.
The handlebar position bothers me, I'm pretty much at the max height of any nice road bike on the market, but that's what works for me, and at least it allows me to spend a bit of time in the drops, rather than slamming it and never getting anywhere near them.

Heres mine in full on touring mode

2020 Giant TCR...
Sketchy as f++k on high speed descents unless there is ZERO wind!
Titus Modena from a few years ago, full 10 speed Ultegra with Fulcrum Quattro wheels with Conti GP4000
Can't see me ever buying another road bike
but I don’t really think I should be making that trip
Cycle there instead
CAAD 12 from last year, I only bought it for the colour... And because almost all new bikes are aero drop stay disc brake abominations.*
Upgraded the cranks and post so far.

Add weird, integrated, aero headset things to that list. Finally, a way to over-complicate the humble headset spacer!

Squealer, that's lovely
I hate the looks of the cranks but can't be arsed to change them. The only thing I have changed is the saddle.

You should always have the chain on the big ring for photos. This is my summer commuter and general riding bike. Not racy, but it goes ok. The Dura-Ace wheels definitely help and are a revelation compared to the cheap Fulcrums it came with.
Trek emonda ALR after riding to work this morning. Love this bike, just wants to go fast! Full 7020 groupset and dtswiss pr1600 wheels with 28mm gp5000tl tyres.
The pretty one. Over 10 years old now!

(Sorry about the chain being on the little ring...)
My 40th present from Mrs Kilo

I've had a spin on one of those, it's a nice bike to ride.

This is my sorta road bike with flat 780 bars its a Brother Kepler. Bonus of something like this is it can take up a 700x45c or 650x48c so if you wanted you can gravel it. Currently running 32 or 35s I cant remember but it makes for a way more comfortable ride than skinny 25s.
Halfords.
Flat pedals.
11-42 cassette.
Disk brakes.
Saddle bag.
Handlebar pot??
It has been a very undignified life for a lovely frame.

Not £2.5k but...

WTAF? - nice stealth edit Rotor Stern!
My summer bike, I was hoping to have replaced it now but this little "situation" is hampering both the sale of this one and the purchase of the new one.
Making the most of it on my one a day rides though and remembering how good it is!

I have absolutely no idea where that url came from. I just copied the link from the photo sharing site and that came up too. Honest guv!
my planet x Titanium thing
it's a sample, given to me after the carbon thing died a couple of days out of warranty
made in the USA by Serotta. Lovely thing; wouldn't want to replace it at all
The same people now make these https://22bicycles.com/pages/great-divide/, which are slightly more than 2.5k. If I had the cash, I so would
And yes, obviously I realise the pedals and cranks aren't level etc
Genesis Zero Disc Z2. My first road bike and absolutely love it.
Upgraded wheels to DT Swiss P1800 with Hutchinson tubeless, Fizik Cyrano Bar/Stem, Fizik Kium saddle and Mason carbon seatpost. Will update the cranks, mechs and cassette to Ultegra at some point.
I'm not a Speclialized mtb fan but love the look of their road bikes.

Enigma Elite HSS. Absolute dream to ride - getting a lot of use at the moment. (Old pic but nowt has changed)

Personally I'd get a gravel bike with 2 sets of wheels if I was to buy again.
Just remember that a road bike is for life, not just lockdown.
Trek have got some strong discounts on last year's stock at the moment so £2.5K could get you a surprisingly good bike. There is a madone 9.5 for £2.6k if you don't want discs, Emonda sl7 is £2.7K. Both of those are running DI2 ultegra.
(multiple failed - wonder if that site just blocks sharing) attempt for wOOdster: (and what is it?)
Only ridden once as then I was put on lockdown, next eleven weeks going to be slow.
(I don't have a pic of mine 🙁 )
I clearly can't get links/images to work either....
.

Somehow I think this is still the most up to date pic of it!

It's since gained Dura Ace brakes, a black SLR saddle, and the tyres are now Pro Ones. Still has that daft 11-23 cassette though as it spends most of it's year in "winter" mode with a 13-28!
Often tempted to upgrade it, but then the £3k a new bike would cost makes me think I could go on a 2 month long tour somewhere on it if I really wanted to spend £3k indulging myself on bikes! Waiting to see if aero bikes trickle down a bit more, a £2k systemSix would be nice!
Planet X EC-130E ultegra disc not ridden it much due to injury cost slightly less than 2.5K with upgraded wheels. Off-out on it this afternoon for my 1 a day.

My PX Pro Carbon Evo. Some say it's cheap shit but I love it, it really is a nice ride.

Not to be deterred by the responses to my last foray into showing off my favourite bike ever...

My trusty old CAAD 8, I'd like to get a carbon bike with hydro's but not sure if it'd be worth it for about £1500ish I'd have to spend.

been an absolute joy to own, fabulous handling and climbs like a mountain goat only let down by the rider 🙂

My bargain steel bike...

My Carbon indulgence bike...

Loving the Purple CAAD12's by the way... Proper good looking bike that!
I’d like to get a carbon bike with hydro’s but not sure if it’d be worth it for about £1500ish I’d have to spend.
Check out my Planet X up there, they're a bit marmite but it only cost me £1200, with Sram Force 11 speed hydros, carbon cranks, bars and seat post. Wheels are shit but they can be upgraded later
Mine cost me £899 in January and I've subsequently upgraded the wheels to some unused Fulcrum 4s that a guy had taken off his new bike and then I went went tubeless, oh and a light seat post now.
Very happy.

2012 CAAD8, nearly replaced everything other than frame/fork/seat post/ bars. Excuse the hardcore it now has slabs on it!

I'm ok with the hardcore Tom. When you gonna varnish that fence?
Love the purple CAAD’s almost as much as I love the old Supersix. Gutted the new one is not as pretty and it’s heavy.

That's exactly what I've been looking at, well that and the Ribble for similar money. Nice to hear you get on with it so well 👍😎
Agree, love the purple CAAD frames. I had an old super-six carbon and loved it, I reckon the rear end of it was probably comfier than my current Roubaix.
Looked at the current ones and just couldn't take too them.
My midlife crisis bike
This set me back 2.5k.
Giant propel advance disk 1 full ultegra and DT hubbed carbon wheels.
Only compromise was an alloy steerer fork and I can neither see nor feel it when I ride it. Proper rocket ship.
The frame, bar tape, stem, bottom bracket and brakes were a bit more than your budget at Christmas. Groupset and wheels were transferred from the old bike.
Trail Rat, very nice. Do you have a reason for the stem spacers? Honestly not a criticism, I have neck issues and my aero bike is similar.
I do like the propel, always remember when I was racing crits, riding alongside a team on them, it honestly sounded like a Star Wars light sabre fight, was awesome!!
Not under £2.5k.
But nice and subtle and a pleasure to ride.
Rourke 953 frame.
Storck fork.
Royce hubs laced 24/24 to hplusson archetype grey rims.
Vittoria Corsa 28c tyres.
DA7900
Syntace carbon post
EA90 stem
Zipp cf compact bars.
Gets overlooked at cafes because it’s not an aero wedge in bright colours and I’m fine with that.
`

Trail Rat, very nice. Do you have a reason for the stem spacers?

Well if I took them out the contact points would no longer match the position on my previous bike which was comfy for 300km at a time.
And since I don't race on it I'd rather be comfy over long distances than be slammed.
Bit late to the party - late 80's Peugeot 753 frameset with more modern Dura Ace & Ritchey WCS stuff on:
