As the road bike is now living on the TT, I need to set my 2011 Spesh Camber up for commuting. It's on QRs front and rear, so what mudguards offer good coverage and will fit narrow forks? I can't abide those stupid MX style guards that fit into the steerer tube.
I'm thinking Crud Raceguard XL for the rear as that's easy to swap over to any of my other bikes.
I used Crud guards for years on my Spesh HT - rear and downtube. Added a short fender if it was really wet to stop slop over the bars.
Full length guards on my 26'er used for commuting - what ever Decathlon had. Can still off road a 'bit' with them.
Alway was a fan of Topeaks mudguards, rear defender is easily clipped on and off, and does stay put. Unfortunately, the older front mudguards have been mainly been replaced with a MX style, only the Defender XC looks to be less MX but is also very special.
Zefal do some good guards too, I did like the "no mud" rear (old model?), for great coverage & an under stated look.
SKS shockboard front mud guard is always the style I preferred (and probably still have 3 in the garage, in various states), though is looking more porky nowadays
SKS chromoplastics still going after more than 20 years on my old rockhopper general abuse hack.

Work fine on anything but really claggy mud off-road too.
Used to use the SKS chromoplastics too on my old 26er. Just waiting for the last of the nice weather to depart and then porting then on a 26" hybrid for commuting. Work off road just not for Fort William.
Whatever the local sports place had to the SKS guards. They are left on all year on the commuter and only slightly problematic due to the switched out fork (rigid carbon with no guard attachment points).
Yes, tape and cable ties have been involved in the attachment. Yes, it looks ugly as hell. Yes, it stops me getting covered with shit all the time.
FWIW, the bike is a Merling Malt2 and runs (at the moment) half studded winter tyres in the 1,5” range. Summer sees it run the narrowest 26” tubed slicks I can find, usually whatever XXL or Decathlon have that work.
