You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
After a couple of years commuting, last winter finally killed components enough on my cross check to put it out of action. (worn rims, seized gears worn drivechain etc). It deserves better 🙁
I am looking at bringing it back to life and and wanting a bit of inspiration.
Anyone still riding them?
Want to show me what you got/had/want?
This was mine, earlier in the year, with 40c tyres and 1x9 gearing. Good for most things, but after trying a 100kM Audax on it, I realised it needed a bit of fettling;

So, 32c tyres now, and a 34/46 double on a 11-30 cassette.

I think they're great frames, as long as you are mindful of their limitations, i.e. funny sizing, low front end, weight etc. You can basically build anything from an old-school style mtb, cross, tourer, pass-hunter, audax. Would not want to try racing it though!
mine was set up a bit like your first picture. 42mm tyres, unfortunately my rims didn't like them and split pretty early.
being so versatile as a frame has its downsides....too much choice when it comes time for a change.
