You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I'm getting ever more tempted to buy a cross bike, I live in Thetford after all and don't need a 5" bruiser locally so thought I'd combine my want for a road bike with something that'll work off road too.
And, begin..... 🙂
This is mine, it's not at all better than anything else out there. I've raced it for two seasons, and in two weeks time the knoblies are coming off and on are going road tyres, mudguards and twin cages to spend the rest of it's life banging out the miles. But for the money it's been great, not too hefty either - 1500g frame.
A new race specific crosser is coming soon.

Edit; I should add that the ability to fit cages has been useful on several occasions, mainly winter reliability trial or rough road rides like the hell of the North.
WTF?
There's a bike brand "Kevin" and they've released a model "Winter"????
And someone bought one???? 😉
Al I used to have one called alan 😉
Here's my lovely steel Salsa La Cruz, don't know if its better than the rest, it's orange so it can't be all bad 🙂

I've got a Salsa La Cruz too, nice to see another orange rocket.
That Giant is loverly
I want a cotic X though
Wow,
Indeed, that Giant is LOVELY!
Whats one of those going to set me back?
Thanks for comments guys.
Built this up in 09 from a frameset so prob. around 1800 all in. This is a very expensive way though, much better to buy complete bike. I think 2011 models start at 695 for the TCX 3 up to 1200 for the TCX 1. TCX frameset now 650 (list). The current frames have a more horizontal top tube though.
PS. If you're feeling flush Giant now do a carbon frameset for 2750.!
This is mine... Also Orangy!!

It's done pretty sterling work recently in commuting in the snow, had studded tyres on it and it'd get through anything!
