You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I am just about to start painting my frame and I'm stuck for colour ideas. I have blue hope cranks and blue wheels and a few other bits like seat clamp etc in blue. I don't want to over do the blue thing so my bike looks like a smurf so can any one post some inspiration please
I'm currently thinking orange and blue frame but I'm not sure it might look a bit bling
deep sparkly purple w flippy black top coat. Or just black.
Black or silver.
Purple + blue seem to work great together (Trek Stache for example), orange should be nice too.
If you want something less bling I'd suggest shades of gray (from black to white) but with sparkles.

Black Frame.
I quite like the purple and blue idea. That trek looks lovely
Orange and blue works very well together - opposites on the colour wheel. Ive just about finished painting my Trek Slash in Gulf Racing colours (Orange, light blue, with dark blue decals and stripe) and it looks good - just have to build it up.
Are you painting yourself? I used spray.bike after a recommendation on here and it is fantastic paint. When you get to grips with it, which doesnt take long, it is amazing. No drips or runs, and thick covering. I will post a few pics when complete.

My bits were quite blue after swimming in the river at Monmouth at 7:00 this morning, but I'm not showing them to you...
Blue stem, hubs, chainring, fork decals and BB. All in slightly different blues just to annoy people

Markeverson I'm painting it myself but I paint cars for a living so I'm taking advantage of that. I've found a nice tvr purple that is floating around in my head at the moment.
Do you have pics of your orange blue bike? I've seen some orange and blue bikes that look amazing and some that look awful
Call me boring but I’m not a fan of loads of anodised coloured bike parts - it’s like the 90’s all over again!
Maybe subtle can work, but for me Orange and Blue don’t go together.
If you want coloured parts I’d go with a black / silver / white frame so you don’t get colour clashes, and keep all the anodised bits from the same manufacturer so the colours are the same (hopefully).
Sorry for the delay Bigyim - Here is a pic of the frame pre build. I'm still finishing it. I've since painted the rims orange - now I'm not sure if this is too much, but its different!

That looks lovely markeverson ! I think it's just right with the white on it too so it breaks it up .
Mine is all painted. I'll have to try and post up some pics
Blue stickers, pedals, chainring & garmin (co-incidentally).
Now also has blue DMR Deathgrips, which takes it to just the right level of blue IMO.
Sold this a while ago but: blue seatclamp, bash ring, head tube spacers, grip clamps and aftermarket stickers for the fork.

Bigyim - its actually light blue (so Gulf Racing colour scheme) but looks whitish in the pic.
Ive since sprayed my bontrager rims in the same orange and it seems to me to be too much orange, but my wife (as if she would have a clue what she's looking at) thought it looked great! I'm probably going to get some extra decals in Gulf colours to tone down the orange. I'll post a thread when finished. Postimage is easy to use to post pics and link to them.
Blue and Orange works for me!
