Should Yellow Jersey help with my car?

There's a chance someone else has been in this situation before.

Came a cropper on a bike holiday insured by Yellow Jersey.

They have offered a transport ambulance to get me to and from the airport. However, my car is at the airport and probably isn't going to fit in the ambulance with me.

Claim handler has been non committal on this point and time is running out.

Has anyone been here before and they helped out? My passenger can't drive my company car and even if they could, with all the luggage, I'd struggle as a passenger with my injury.

Should this be a "me" problem, or a "they" problem?

As an aside, with the help of British Airways, the flight has been sorted and saved the insurance company just shy of £2k.

No idea, but my breakdown cover has something for if I'm unable to drive it, they'll send someone to just drive the car home for me.

If it's a no maybe check yours?

That's a nightmare scenario. Hope you're getting good medical care.

Are you sure your passenger can't drive your company car? Is it an insurance issue? I'd get the company car folks to see if they can sort that out. He drives car home w luggage, you take the ambulance

Mate drove my car home from the alps when i blew my ACL, car insurance were very helpful in arranging temp cover for him.

That was a whole lot easier than back and forth w travel insurance trying to get the car driven home, and other than insurance for my mate, a bottle of single malt seemed pretty good value

My passenger can’t drive my company car

Is this just an insurance thing, a company policy thing or they can't actually drive?

I don't know the answer but would have though this was one of those thing you have to get a mate/family member to help out with...

Company car - ask the company or a colleague for help?

Also, which airport? Can an STW member with appropriate third party cover at least move the car to somewhere it is not a problem or drop it back at your house?

Cheers all. It's at Heathrow. It's an insurance issue with the company car. I've asked the question of the fleet manager when it happened on Sunday but can't get hold of him. Time is running out, I fly back on Saturday.

Id be wanting clearance from the fleet manager that was ok .... you only have third party cover if you have the permission of the policy holder.

Could you not get a tempcover policy to get someone to drive your car for you?

Which car park at Heathrow, and what happens if you don't collect as arranged? They'll just charge you day by day, presumably. If yellow jersey have offered an ambulance, you probably need it.

If it's owned and insured by the company, then presumably the fleet manager can stick someone else on the policy and despatch them to collect it if necessary, or agree to put one of your family/friends on it so they can get it. Either way, keep trying the fleet manager, he/she is the key to sorting this one out.

And heal quick, obviously! Is your bike ok, most importantly?

Just my barely considered opinion and very much not a lawyer/insurance person...

a) The car/insurance is a problem for you to sort.

b) Your friend's (and your luggage) transport from heathrow to home is something the insurance should be sorting as he has been stranded as a result of your injury. (if this magically solves (a) at the same time, all the better)

Still trying with the fleet manager. That would be the simplest option. Good point about my luggage and passenger. Maybe that angle it a good way to encourage the insurance company to help with the car.

It's at Terminal 5 with a meet and greet company. According to the car app, it's currently in a carpark just north of the airport.

Honestly, get yourself home safely and worry about the car afterwards. Phone the meet and greet, give them the good news, you'll probably have to pay to get it recovered, but again, that's probs on the fleet manager to solve, but either way, not something you should try to sort out now. It's not the priority

Surely the fleet manager has a deputy for when he's unavailable? How far from T5 is home. Can an insured colleague (one of your line reports who wants a promotion?) meet you there and drive the luggage and passenger home?

Yellow Jersey seem to offer good cover but don’t actually pay out, so sort yourself out as cheaply as possible.

Fleet manager hasn't responded to a significant request for assistance in a full working week? Assuming he's not on holiday or sick himself, that's something I'd be taking up on my return to work.

Not same insurance company but when I broke my collarbone in Whistler, Dogtag paid for my wife’s expenses to get from Scotland to Manchester to drive me and the car home. Didn’t need any extra organising on their part though.

If it's a company car then almost certainly anyone else with a company car would be covered. Can you find a friendly colleague who could taxi in and get it for you?

We did manage to get my mate on the company insurance in the end. I have been picked up by the ambulance but got no contact or confirmation details for it. Not been overly impressed with YJ so far.
