Just picked up a cotic escapade with a 142mm rear end. I assumed it would come with an axle for the rear end - my mavic wheels that i ordered for it didn't come with an axle either. This is the first bike i've had without 135mm/QR or without a Downhill Style 150mm axle!
Is this normal? Should i order a DT one or is another brand ?
frame.
Always come with the frame / fork for me, not the wheels.
are you sure it is a 142 , cotic website says
Rear Hub: Normal 135 QR or 135 x 10 thru axle
Always come with the frame / fork for me, not the wheels.
Unless it's planet x and its an added extra?
Always with the frame/fork
Escapade is QR rear
With frame for me, only bought one since 142 was a thing though.
Bought 3 sets of wheels, they didn’t come with any.
The axle is specific to the frame. There are at least three 'standards' but they won't work in all cases anyway. So it wouldn't make any sense for them to come with wheels.
IIRC the Cotic website lists compatible axles at the time of purchase. I didn't realise they didn't include one in the price though, that seems mean.
Turns out it's 135mm QR! Well that's why it didn't come with an axle!
