I've currently got a 120mm kona explosif hardtail which i tend to use mostly, for commuting, weekend stuff and so on, using two wheelsets with summer style xc tyres and the other with MMs that are the mainstay for the weather these days when i go offroad.
The other bike is a patrol, which has 170/160mm travel and i find it a real struggle to jump on this after days on the hardtail, as you'd expect it feels sluggish at low speeds and handles differently, after a few hours it feels good again, but i find with limited time, i'm struggling to use this one, is there any tricks to making it easier, maybe putting the explosif up to 130mm, or taking 10mm off the patrol forks, or is it just going to be a pain going from one to the other all the time?
Earlier in the year i had the 120mm hardtail and a T130 (sadly nicked), so never noticed any real problems, summer will be easier i guess, but i do seem to worry a bit about taking the full susser out after weeks of not using it, especially after my first ride on it in June ended with me breaking my clavicle in 4 places, putting a hole in my knee and breaking a few ribs, so always felt a bit twitchy i guess!
