On formula cura brakes. Or should I just resign myself to this godforsaken task?
Brand new, I haven't got a bleed kit and I bet they need doing from both ends. It was such a pleasure bleeding hope brakes the other day after the faff with shimano.

if brake are all ok and it just shorting the hose (New brakes?)
Take the pads out, squeeze the brakes so the pistons come out a bit,
(not to far thou)
remove hose at lever, cut/shorten, fit olive/insert etc.
Refit hose
Slowly push pistons back in(any bit of air should be pushed back to the lever)

Fit pads etc test and go ride.

No need to cut the hoses to shorten them, just tie them in a bow.

Don't know about Formula brakes, but I've shortened Avid/SRAM brakes plus Reverb hoses without the need to bleed. Careful cut, keep ends up and don't drip, don't press lever in, refit hose. Job done usually.

I'm patenting some elastic hoses that stretch/shrink to fit.

Good hack, I've used this before. 😀

I completely forgot I'd posted this - thank you, men.

Are there not brakes that require syringing from the caliper out as well as from the lever in?

Depends on the shape of the caliper.
