My E conversion bike looks a mess. The wires are far too long and zip tied all over the place.
I’m getting a new display and that comes with an even longer cable.
What is an easy idiot proof way of joining 2 wires together?
It needs to be rattle and waterproof.

Can you run the cables internally? You could bundle up the slack inside the frame?

And some heatshrink!

Depending on how easy it is to open up the casings I'd be looking at shortening and re-soldering the wires on the circuit board.

Best option would be cut wires, splice then solder plus a heatshrink that has adhesive inside the shrink - eg:

Next level down: if you have a heatgun of some type (try to avoid using a cigarette lighter or similar):

What sort of wires? coaxial ones are a pita.

FWIW the above answers are much more correct than mine but, personally I'd cut it, stick a suitable (ideally waterproof) plug and socket in line and, if necessary, heatshrink over that.

Just realised. This is clearly modular kit. The correct and most foolproof way is remove the conector, cut to length, reattach or replace connector.
Joining the cable mid run is the least preferable option.

That western union splice is interesting. But looks like it will only really work if it's a solid core cable. Multi strand wires, I'd imagine would tangle and become a mess. Although I guess the soldering fixes that.

May have a play tonight, as I'm cool like that.
