Hi fellow social distancers
I recently bought a cheap hydraulic brake set for my son's bike and need to shorten the rear hose. However, it is crimped at both ends. Does anyone know if I can still shorten this? I have olives and barb's etc.
I don't want to cut it to find that the nut is not reusable...
This is not a banjo type fitting, but the usual threaded nut type.
Struggling to put a photo up on the forum, and I can't find a stock photo on Google so I hope that you know what I'm talking about.
What make and model?
Like hols2 said ... but mostly it will be simpler to shorten at the lever end.
What make/model of brake?
Almost all can, but the hose barb and olives vary between different makes
I bought the set from eBay, thinking they were Clark M2 which seemed a decent budget brake. But after ordering, I looked at the listing again and it describes them as "M2" brakes.
Obviously to mislead buyers.
Anyway as such they are unbranded and actually work reasonably well.
The thing is that the nut looks integral with the crimp? I assumed that olive size was the same for all brands.
