I need some cheapo waterproof over trousers as mine have begun to let water in. They are also small but far far too long, I have legs of a child! So what troos for a 27inch leg that won’t break the bank. Last ones were decathlon specials so think same price bracket. Cheers in advance.

Got some cheap Regatta ones for £12 - work OK, waterproof. I use them for commuting in hissing rain on the bike.

How are the sizes worked out on the ex military stuff ?, for example something says xl 100/85. anyone know what that means ?
Trousers should be 3 numbers
Leg/waist/seat in cm
How are the sizes worked out on the ex military stuff ?
Seems to be completely random from my experience. The few I tried were massively wide in the leg. I mean, for the "correct" waist size I could probably fit two of my legs down one trouser leg - and I was a 32" waist at the time, with cyclists thighs. I actually wondered if those recommending them were all trolling.
Military sizes cater for a huge variety of people so there's a lot of variety in them. Their sizing can be quite specific and tends to be in centimeters.
For example trousers could be 80 leg, 100 waist and 116 seat. (random numbers I chose)
Look out for that kind of measuring scale. 80/100/116 etc. Work out your nearest and hunt for that.
Guess g they are not made for cyclists/cycling fit unless I have missed all those soldiers riding around on their bikes.
Speaking as someone with 27” legs and a waist that could possibly be smaller you could try waterproof shorts and long(knee ) length sealskins, dexshell, army ?mvp? goretex socks from eBay
I have some Montane Minimus trousers that are too short in the leg for me (bought in a hurry!). They've only been used a couple of times but I'd let them go for £50 if wanted?
