I'm looking for a saddle with a short / stub nose similar to the Specialized Power (but without the cost - don't want to drop a fortune if it's not right) - does anyone have any experiences or suggestions?
I currently get a little chaffing on the inner thighs (too much football or too many pies!) with medium length rides of about 30 miles or so, so am looking for a saddle that hasn't got too long a nose.
I'm currently using a narrow WTB Rocket on my Gravel bike which is better than the San Marco that was on it before but it's still not right so was looking for something a little shorter. Is there any merit in going for a ladies saddle - these seem to be a little shorter?
Any suggestions (apart from thigh liposuction!) welcomed
Cheers
Specialized power saddles didn’t work for me. If I sat on my sitbones, the saddle rubbed my inner/ back of my thigh.
I used the correct size but just couldn’t get it to work.
Exactly what you want to avoid.
I moved back to fizik Antares as the rear is the same but the mid section is thinner than the power.
NOTE- the short nose saddles all tend to be quite wide in the middle as they need the extra meat to keep the saddle stable.
Worth having a look at ISM ones, they have no nose at all and once you get used to them after a few rides are very comfy.
I'll do some more digging - cheers for the suggestions
I think I'd struggle with the ISM ones as the reading I've done suggests that they come up quite wide
I'll keep looking
Thanks
ISM are only wide if they aren’t setup right. There are good vids on their website. Essentially you start with the saddle about 5cm back and 1cm lower than your regular one.
The rubbing comes from the saddle width not length.
Short saddles are wider so look at the usual suspects, fabric, wtb, selle, fizik etc for a thinner midpoint.
selle Italia make a thin friction free version for those with chunky legs.
Old skool Selle Italia Flite Ti? Very thin nose and the leather one is very slippy so it might well do what's needed.
I get on well with my Power saddle. Getting the right width and getting it level was important. It's the comfiest saddle yet for me. Would like to try an ISM.
I tried an ISM Adamo(?) on my TT bike and couldn't get on with it. It either felt like I was falling off the front or that it was too wide causing me to ride almost bow legged. That was still after looking at the set up instructions and videos.
Bought a Specialized Power copy to try & have to say that it has been very comfortable so far. Will look to pick up a pukka version next
