Trying to fit RaceFace rings onto SRAM s1000 cranks.
Despite 7 sets of chainring bolts between neighbour and I, the best fitting are still 1mm too long.
Do I need a washer/spacer, or is there a set of chainring bolts that are shorter?
Links to the right ones world help...
Singlespeed bolts?
Tredz have some Specialites TA Single Steel Chainring Bolts.
I.D. & SR do them as do others but cannot remember off top of my head
Race bmx shops have lots of coloured ones too..
You can buy chainring washers of various thicknesses. (just goolge "chainring washers")
You can buy short chainring bolts, I would measure what you have first.
RaceFace do tabs for triple cranks with single rings to use triple bolts.
Assuming they’re still delivering in this I can recommend Hubjub, cheap as chips and well made. £5.50 delivered for a set.
If not there’s some short kits on amazon for under a tenner on prime.
The big boys make them, but race face/wolf tooth etc ones are £20 a set.
Last time i just found a bit of scrap wood about the right thickness and drilled 10mm holes in it then put all the bolts in and screwews another piece of wood against the back. This held them all in place and i filed them.
Takes about ten minutes.
Joshvegas - that is worth a try, thank you.
If not, I'll try the singlespeed ones above.
put them together the wrong way round (not in the chainset) and file off anything sticking out. 10mins as above.
Guy up the road had same problem and I sorted it with a spring washer that fitted perfectly into the recess and took up the slack.
