Moving away from SPDs, so after any suggestions or recent deals.
My routes usually include a bit of hike a bike so maybe something sturdy. Is there a Vibram sole for flat pedals.
Usually UK 8 / EUR 42 in street shoes, but always EUR 43 in Shimano so any advice on brand sizing will also be appreciated
Every review I read, even of the very ‘best of the rest’ of flat shoes includes the phrase somewhere ‘of course they’re not as grippy as 5-10s, but they’re very good’.
In my experience, 5-10s are the business.
5-10's are the business in terms of grip, but they're utter chod for everything else.
I wish they'd put 5-10 soles on the bottom of my walking shoes. They're in every way better - they're comfier, more breathable, wear better (without microplastic pollution), are warmer in winter, look better and, importantly, dry much much quicker.
If anyone could come close to the 5-10 grip whilst making leather-upper / GTX walking shoe comfort, then I'd ditch 5-10's in a heartbeat.
In the minority but not a fan of five tens. Was disappointed when I had some, pretty uncomfortable and overly bulky.
I’ve always liked shimano footwear.
Couple people I ride with really like ride concept shoes, they look nice and reports are good. Reasonably priced (ish) as well
I quite like the look of these

But will probably end up getting these

I've been a 5-10 user for years and have in the past tried all kinds of other shoes which have claimed to have 5-10 levels of grip.
They all disappointed me so I always went back to 5-10 despite the soles getting wrecked within a few months.
At the weekend I was given a pair of Spech 2FO shoes.
They fit me as well as and are lighter than 5-10s and they do actually grip as well if not better.
Only three rides in on them but no real damage to the sole yet. I've been told they last a lot long but I'll withhold judgement until they've got a couple of months wear on them.
Looking positive so far though.
Spesh roost 2fo hands down better than 5:10
Has anyone tried the Leatt 2.0's?
Look pretty similar to 2fo Roosts.

I’ve been using 5Tens since they were first released. And currently have a pair of Freeriders. They’re comfy, don’t look stupid and dry out reasonably ok. Every time I’ve tried something else (apart from an old pair of Teva biking shoes) I’ve been disappointed with something about them.
Have a pair of adidas terrex with 5-10 stealth sole, great on the bike and hike a bike, not the usual dot pattern, so much more walking grip, dont think they make them anymore(I’ll get my coyt)

A mate had some Leatt winter boots.
Only used them on one ride and went back to his old 5-10s and wet feet. 🤣
Said the soles were dangerously shit.
Are freerider pros £65 at CRC at the mo? I'm a 45 in Shimano mtb shoes and my FRPs ate a 46 and a good fit.
Look at ion scrub amp 2023 model. Soooo well made and comfy
I've a pair of 2fo Roost and they are great but i used to wear old trainers before them and therfore have nothing to properly compare them to.
I'm using my old Salomon gore-tex hiking trainers - the heels are too worn down for walking serious miles. However, they don't slip on the pegs, keep my feet quite dry and are really comfy off the bike too, so they've had a new lease of life 🙂

I have those. Grip isn’t amazing in all honesty but I suffer badly from cold feet in winter and they’ve been a god send in keeping me warmer. Surely not that difficult to produce some waterproof flat boots but so little choice!
