So it's winter and cycling shoes are wet after most rides. Looking at getting a shoe dryer of some sort.
So far I've found three main types.
- Lose cable with two separate dryer and they fit into the shoes
- A plastic base with two rabbit ears that your shoes slip over
- Wall mounted rack that you slip the shoes on
Anyone got any they'd recommend before I try my luck with eBay. Also will probably have to go in the garage or utility to avoid stinking the house out with the fug of my manky cycling shoes.
I've got this one. Doesn't get hot, just warm and takes a while to dry them, but does the job

We've got one of these (after a recommendation on here IIRC). Has coped swimmingly with my cycling shoes and MrsIHNs running shoes and neoprene swimming gloves
Also will probably have to go in the garage or utility to avoid stinking the house out with the fug of my manky cycling shoes.
Our back porch (where the shoes live) used to stink from the pong from MrsIHNs running shoes, as they get really wet (she's a trail runner). I was worried that having the dryer in there would make it even worse as but in fact the opposite is true - because the shoes are drying quickly they don't have time to fester and start to stink.
I have this one. Had it about 5 years. Wetsuit boots have made it rusty but dries wetsuit boots / wet shoes overnight.
I have one like this - probably has a different name but looks the same.
Surprisingly effective
I have the element in each shoe type , I think made by Husquarna. I bought them because I assumed Swedes would know all about keeping footwear dry. They are however fairly rubbish and take days to dry. I have gone back to sticking shoes on the CH boiler which in winter works really well
I bought the one from Lidl and it was so good, I went and bought another 2 so I had them in the other houses I tend to end up in after wet outdoor pursuits. It only does a pair of shoes at a time, but I sit my gloves over the foot hole and the gloves dry along with the shoes. Really good and I think it cost about £13, so I'm not expecting stunning results.
I did have another one but although it stills blows air, there is no heat so it does dry the shoes but not quickly. I think if I sat that next to a radiator, it might draw warm air in and then chuck it into the shoes, but I haven't used it since getting the Lidl things.
Was literally just looking at one of those for our perpetually soggy trail shoes @kayak23 - dropped you a pm.
If you've got a dehumidifier, these work rather well too. I generally put my winter boots near the air flow most evenings to dry out the cuffs whilst drying my washing.
Put them in a string bag and lob into the airing cupboard.
I've one of those black folding ones shown above which lives in the office or goes away with me when I'm off somewhere with the bike. I've also got one pretty similar to this wall mounted thing in the garage
Both work pretty well but the wall mounted one is better. I'll check the brand when I get home.
we have a Renogy shoe dryer, worked really well.
by direct from amazon and when it breaks return for a refund
as per picture above by footflaps.
Another one who has one of those shown above. Had it for probably 8 or 9 years, used loads and still working fine, although I still don't leave it running if I'm not in the house.
Maxxdry.
Works for my bike boots/shoes and also all our neoprene socks and gloves.
Two pages of the Sunday Times per shoe
Humble brag... I can only afford the Metro, and that's free cos father-in-law leaves them when he visits 😂
Mrs Fazzini was never impressed by me drying mine on the living room radiator, so I invested in one of the Renogy ones above.
You need a Schuhtrockner (German for shoe dryer) we have this one from Amazon.de which is compact and dries a couple of pairs of soaked shoes in about 60-90 mins, about £60 delivered to UK and sooooo worth it. It comes on holiday with us sometimes so we can have dry shoes away from home too.
Two pages of the Sunday Times per shoe and a night in the airing cupboard.
Two things I don't own! Plus I want guaranteed dry shoes the next day.
I went and bought another 2 so I had them in the other houses I tend to end up in after wet outdoor pursuits.
Stop...right there...too much information 😉
<<Renogy shoe dryer>>
Yep excellent - works well and with the added spice that the quality often makes me think it might burn the house down if left unattended.
Does the job well though.
Renogy is good.
Used a dehumidifier for ages for all my kit before, but this is more targeted, and shoes are the thing that take longest to dry, so I reckon it saves me some energy.
Small enough to take on trips away too.
I wouldn't leave it operating unattended though, and always switch it off at the mains. IIRC a few people in the Amazon reviews have had them melting down or small fires.
Low tech option is boot bananas but they only work for slightly damp, not absolutely sodden.
we have one of these, used multiple times in the week, would be without it now. Was about £40 when I got it which prob was about 4 yrs ago

<br />I would go blown air any day over just heat.
we got this one for our dog walker a couple of Xmas ago she uses it daily I give up trying to get it to link in the right place ! But it’s that black Amazon one above
