Yes, after asking about this before Christmas some kind soul told me about the Clas Ohlsen one, so it was duly purchased and given to me as a present. Works fine and has a nice timer on it so you can switch it on and just leave it.

I use these
http://www.tiso.com/shop/sidas/drywarmer/?gclid=CL6JydGUgsMCFdQZtAod_TAAwg

They give a gentle heat (wont damage shoes) and portable so easy to take on holidays
Can be used for any footwear : ski boots, wellies, walking boots etc

Have seen one similar to Martin's link on Amazon for £6 ish. Did think it looked like it was a excellent way to burn your house down at the time.

EDIT: This was it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scalable-Electric-Deodorizer-Dehumidify-Sterilizer/dp/B00RE18SBG/ref=sr_1_10?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1420643788&sr=1-10&keywords=boot+dryer

Got one of those Clas Ohlson ones for Christmas too, and it works great, no more putting on damp shoes or stuffing them with newspaper. 😀

I've used that cheap Amazon one (although I spent a bit more to get one with a UK plug) for a year and my house is still standing 😉
It's great when you go away as can take it with you, not really suitable if shoes are dripping wet but most of the time it does the job
am considering this Clas Olsen one to mount to the wall in the garage as it will dry more things that bit quicker

I've got one of the Clas Ohlson ones and find it useless. Takes ages to dry wet shoes. Newspaper is far better, quicker and cheaper.

I think the real reason for them is as ski boot warmers, not dryers.

hahaha I just burst out laughing at those contraptions, they look like something off wallace and gromit.

I put mine upside down on a radiator with some newspaper in (Probably doesn’t do as good a job as the other suggestions, mind).

two years ago spent 2 weeks trying to get some specialized gore winter boots to dry out in the airing cupboard without much success got a similar device from amazon in Germany to the clasolsen one but with 4 pipes coming off it. bloody brilliant. has a two hour timer and after two repeated sessions even gore boots that have had a hose pipe taken to them dry out. no smells fantastic. I keep my boots and shoes in garage so if I forget to bring them in before a ride I just put them on the warmer for 20mins. well worth their weight in gold. definitely beats newspaper and kith litter in tights ooh err

Newspaper stuffed inside and the airing cupboard works overnight if you change the paper 2/3 times.

i didnt know these existed!

do any of these really work with completely sodden five-tens?

my mrs is always moaning about me sticking them on the radiator on newspaper, and even this isnt much use in summer...

they should have them in chalets abroad, i ditched a pair last time because they were so wet and heavy i didnt have the weight capacity!

The Clas Ohlsen one works on my sodden 5 10s. It punts out a faintly warm airflow into the shoe to dry it.

I've had one of these for a couple of years:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Melissa-350W-Dryer-Heater-Mounted/dp/B00200K1QQ

Absolutely brilliant thing. Way, way more effective than just sticking boots / shoes in a warm place or on top of radiator. Other big advantage is that you can then dry the boots quickly in a cold garage or shed and not stink the house out. Highly recommended. 1hr to take shoes from soaking wet to dry and ready to go.
