I’ve been using shockwiz to try and get my 2018 jeffsy cf pro set up correct as worked great in my sultan in the past. On the Fox evolve it’s telling me I need to make the compressions softer but that’s not possible - any ideas please ?
The bar for compression is all the way to the left ( make softer ) and low speed is half way left ....this could be simple if a cane creek like old bike but don’t think there is any option on the Fox ?
Thanks !!
Just do the calibration test if you don't know the compression ratio
The shockwiz is telling you that the compression damping is too firm, but you have no more range on the adjuster to do that if I understand you correctly.
Does your riding justify that level of bike/amount of travel? If not, it's important to realise that and adjust accordingly. If if does, and everything else is set right, it could mean it needs a revalve or a service. Are you lighter than average?
Are you sure the air pressure and air volume are spot on? You could experiment with more volume or less pressure and see what that does to the compression.
The shockwiz is a great tool but remember, it's there to help you experiment, not to save you from having to.
Yep shockwiz saying compression damping is too firm and there is only the standard 3 position comp damping adjuster on the Fox. Not lighter than average but more cross country than jumpy jumpy. All lines above are green for sag, vol and rebound and the shock is 6 months old so should be fine.
Setting more sag may be an option or tweaking tuning on a service but I cannot see another way ...
On the other hand if it rides ok ride it !
Have you had a look to see if you can fit a lighter compression shimstack?
If it's of any use, and I suspect it won't be, I had a terrible time with the Fox DPS shock that came on my Jeffsy CF 2017. I just couldn't get it sorted; it was either not good enough on small hits or blew through the travel and the middle of the travel too quickly.
Now I'm a bit of a biffer, unlike OP, but there was nothing I could do (or nothing I'd found) to get it sorted as a good compromise. In the end a Cane Creek Coil DBIL took its place...
Yep did wonder if I was spoilt by my cc dbinline on the sultan and the Fox evolve just does not have that adjustment range . If I got it serviced I could ask them re shim stacks I suppose but then cost for that would be almost half a cane creek or other shock with fast / slow compression adjust ....
No cash for that at present as fettling house so will revert back to classic shock tuning of give it a squidge !
