I've got hold of a Shockwiz and was wondering what the battery life is like. There doesn't appear to be any mention of it in the user manual and there's no on-off switch. Is it dormant until connected to the app?

It's dormant until a jolt wakes it up. Slightly strangely (to me anyway) opening the app doesn't automatically start the device. I've had mine a couple of months now and haven't had any battery issues, although I did read in a review that battery life can be shortened if you regularly transport the bike it's attached to on the roof or on the back of a vehicle. Apparently the general jolting up and down of a car can keep on starting it. Transporting inside the car I haven't had any issues.

It’s the motion that wakes it up - I generally only use mine infrequently and take the battery out in the intervening period, though I suspect you’d get a couple of years out of a battery anyway.

Not sure about years..  I've replaced a battery in one. Easy to do and it's a cheap CR2032 or similar.

I've got a spare battery, I was more wondering if it's worth pulling the battery between uses?
