Am I losing much travel ?. Currently its 150mm on the rear(160mm front) I've no idea how you work this out.
Current shock on the bike is a Fox float evol performance dps trunnion 185x55mm
Currently on wiggle theres a 185x50mm trunnion Fox float dps factory priced at £324 ,which seems a very good price to me for the factory edition, only its that 5mm i dont know how its going to affect things.
if you're feeling brave, you could pop the aircan open and snip off the 5mm travel spacer if you want that extra 10-20mm travel

Just check - there may be a screwed in spacer on the 50mm travel one to reduce it from 55mm. On my float x it has screw in spacers - I wanted to reduce my stroke from 62.5mm to 57.5mm as inwas putting a Cascade link on my Sentinel and it was a 10 min job to screw in an extra spacer.
Will take someone with the right tools all of 10-15 minutes to open the shock up and remove the spacer, turning it into a 55mm stroke. You just need to find someone who’s happy to do that without charging you for a full shock service and associated cost now.

I bought a 185x50 Float X2 a few years ago, a mate had the right tools (mostly just a shaft clamp in the right size) and did it in his garage for me whilst I looked on…

You could just buy this and not bother with the faff. £30 cheaper and the right size. Mine just arrived yesterday.
Edit. I looked at that ar$e about tit there. Sorry. At least with the £30 you save that could be used to change its length if that's possible with Cane Creek.
The Cane Creek would be a significant performance upgrade. I've got one which replaced a DPS and it's superb.
Worth asking TF if they can tweak the stroke on the ones they have in stock.
Or the 52.5mm stroke would give you 143mm travel.

For solely road / commuting use the shock performance doesn’t really matter, you just want one with a firm or solid lockout.

Thats an excellent idea, though they're bound to charge something and you know how these things go. You commit and the price sneaks up a bit at a time and before you know it you're up another 100 quid. But still worth dropping therm a line..

I dont actually use lockout, both ends are fully open.
Im a fat old git and i like the bouncy bouncy comfort for fully open, through on the rear i could do with a bit more progressiveness, its a tad harsh if i were to offer any criticism of the fox shock.
I've been meaning to do away with the 3 ways on the fork and shock. Front of the bike looks like the back of a mixing desk of a bloody concert, with all the wires and hoses ive got sticking out. Whoever built my bike didnt believe in neatness.
One of the things TF Tuned do is strip and inspect every new fork and shock before it goes out anyway so you might be in luck and they might do it for free.
Can always hope for that possibility.
One thing im unsure of is the trunnion aspect of the shock- the cane creek, my fox and the bike mount. As in will it fit, or is it a case of minimum sizes on the shock and you use spacers to get the correct fit on the frame mount.
