...... will it all end in the tears of baby Robins?

Frame is steel (853 don't you know 😉 )

Frame is out of any warranty.

There is only a short extension of ST above the TT so a shim should support the seat post beyond teh ST/TT junction. A Cane Creek shim is 100mm long.

Seat post would be carbon so I'm guessing flexier than the 31.6 Thomson in there at the moment.

It'll be fine, our tandem has 31.6 seattube and we run a 27.2 thudbuster

yup running a short 27.2 dropper in a vitus sommet which I think is 31.8 - no probs so far. Just remember to take it out and clean and grease between frame and shim once in a while

All good. I'm a fan of thinner seatposts due to the increased comfort and have done this more than once.

Ran the same for years without any problems. I had a lot more trouble with a 31.6 Thompson in a 31.6 frame.

Marvellous, that’s just what I wanted to hear. I’ll notify the Robins they are safe ……. For now.
