hello all i thought i'd ask here as this is something i've never encountered beforeÂ
my xt gears started not upshifting in the middle of the block 5 onwards like the spring had got weak on the mech so changed mech ! same issue, changed shifter same again then the cable (outer and inner) checked the alignment all good so i thought i'd try some new eagle 90 (what a faf this is with an idler frame )and amazingly same issue next step is to kill it with fire
anyone shed any light ?
cheers mark hammill
Sounds like a clutch problem to me. I've a small stock of replacement clutch bodies for when this happens. Grr. Easy to take apart and clean but not really reversible if rust sets in on the spring within the clutch.
Does the mech shift freely through the cassette if you move it by hand with the cable disconnected?
When you say checked the alignment, presume you are talking about the hangar? Those symptoms sound like misalignment to me, I'd check again. Or maybe a cassette issue. Worn mid range or spacing wrong. I'd say you've excluded derailleur issues by now.Â
