I'm still running the old duel control xt brake levers from 2004 and am wanting to get the new 2012 xt levers (no gears as I'm running singlespeed) Does anyone know if the new levers are compatible with the 2004 calipers?

Should be ok, although you may need to change the hose to the new narrower bore ones as well. Possibly.
