Shimano shoe

As pictured heel of my 3 months old xc902 xc shoes.

Usage: Xc racing, gravel, road riding. No big hike a bikes or ought

Anyone else had this? They are getting returned obviously just thinking about what to get to replace

I liked them otherwise and might be interested in xc7 shoe but wondered if it's common occurrence across all the Shimano xc range as tread designs look similar?

Shoes can take a beating. I ripped the plate that the cleat bolts to out of the sole on 2 pairs of Pearl Izumi shoes. Great comfy shoes, just no longevity. We are talking weeks.

Having said that, Shimano shoes are pretty tough. Good luck with the return, but if it has happened once, it will happen again IME. Perhaps trade to something a little tougher?

My older M089 are missing some of the grip/treads in places but they've had a hard life. I've just bought some XC3's that seem fine so far.

Thanks, yes the xc3 does look like a different heel tread so unlikely to do same thing

I can only find one other reviewer with the same problem so hoping its just a rare defect

I guess I'll try the xc7's and hope for the best. Looking for something decent for racing with toe studs for CX so the 3's won't work for me.
