Just spent ages working out a length of chain that works nicely on my 11 speed Ultegra Di2 setup. Have an HG701-11 Ultegra chain going on. Shifting perfectly now in the stand - miles better than the cheapie (and slightly neglected) low end Sram 11 speed chain that was on there.

Just realised I’ve installed it with the writing facing in towards the bike rather than outwards as detailed on the packet. I don’t have another spare 11 speed quick link.

So so I run it as it is, or so I pop the quick link apart and spin the chain round and reuse that link? What’s the worst option?

Either that or I have some Sram 12 speed eagle quick links....don’t know if they’ll work or if they’re a different pin width to 11 speed Shimano?

flip it, and re-use the quick link. Don't think i've ever heard of anybody having a problem wit re-using them, but get a spare if it worries you.

LOL... I was in the car park the other day and some bloke was telling his mates he put a new chain on but couldn't understand why it wasn't smooth.
I'd have said something and offered my chainlink pliers but my mate he'd decided to talk to informed me he'd been bad mouthing me whilst I patiently waited for him to move his bike blocking the parking space next to my mate.
I didn't even say anything just sat patiently and apparently when he said to my mate "what's his problem" my mate had said "he's waiting to park here" and got a gob full of abuse.

I figure since his new bike cost a lot more than my car and bike together he could afford to pay someone to figure it out.

I thought it was only 12sp chains that needed "aligning" ? 😟

Thanks all - flipped it and it’s even better shifting. There was a slight hesitation from 3 down to 4 but that’s now as perfect as all the rest of the shifts. In the stand di2 is like voodoo - barely touch the lever and it’s in the next gear either up or down the block.

Not all Shimano chains are directional as I understand it - but some are. Particularly some 11 speed.
