I've put together a bike for my 11 year old daughter from my parts bin as her first full sized bike. Despite new cable outers and inners, she's struggling to put the pressure on the front mech shifter to shift to larger cog. It seems the longer travel on the front mech side and small hands are the issue - the rear mech is not a problem.

I was wondering if a solution would be use a twist grip on that side. Anyone know or had experience on whether they compatible with a Deore front mech, or would the front mech also need to be replaced?

Sram front twisties are the same pull as shimano, done a few before. The old 9sp were multi click so allowed you to trim the later ones were 2 or 3sp indexed

Shimano revoshift will work fine. By far the easiest solution for small hands.
