One of my bikes has Shimano Sora. 3400 (I think) from around 2011.

Jockey wheels almost have no teeth left.

So, it's £10 for jockey wheels, or £20 for a new Sora rear mech.

But will the pull ratios be completely different - would it cause more problems than what it's worth?

Would pick one up second hand on eBay, but need it asap, and haven't really the time to mess around bidding on stuff.

I think on new Sora the front mech pull has changed, but the rear is the same. You could also treat yourself to a 9sp shimano MTB mech and a big cassette, worked for me and my puny legs!

New front mech is backwards compatible

How many miles has the chain done? A badly stretched chain wouldn't do your new mech's jockey wheels any good.
