Call me dumb but i have only ever had specialized shoes and my son has just brought some "shop soiled" shimano m076 shoes from leisure lakes but there is nothing to attach the egg beater cleats to.Is this the norm and are shimano shoes specific to shimano pedals or should there of been a back plate provided?

The plates that the cleat bolts go into are usually in a little plastic bag rather than fitted but should come with the shoes.

Hey

They should come with Cleat Nuts <that's the Shimano name for them> as standard.

If you buy a set of Shimano Cleats you get free plates/nuts with them. You could sell the cleats afterwards.

Failing that call LL and see if they have them. Being described as 'shop soiled' may mean that they have lost them though. They do tend to go missing for some reason...
