Apropos of nothing, I've just realised that the drivetrain on my gravel thing is almost totally mis-matched. There are 105 shifters shifting a GRX front mech and chainset. At the back there is an ultegra mech and an XT 11-40 cassette. So that's parts from four different groupsets (road and mountain) all (so far) playing nicely together.
My wife's road bike doesn't manage as many groupsets but does manage a better spread of levels as she has Sora shifters with 105 front mech and chainset and a dura ace rear mech (and hubs).
Took me a while (and much swearing) to arrive at this combination on my vagabond. Ultegra shifters, SLX calipers, XT cranks and front mech, 105 rear mech. Are you running a road link or something with that rear mech?

No, winding the b-screw all the way in with my Ultegra RX mech seems to just about cope with the 11-40 cassette. If I had the option I'd probably have given it a couple of mm more clearance, but it seems to be shifting fine.
Good point about the calipers. Mine are 105, so there is still some scope for more mixing. Wanders off to look at the Hope catalogue...
Tiagra drop bar levers/shifter/brifters, to an XT mech/groupset, never cause me any issues.
Dura ace disc callipers, Dura ace Di2 shifters, XT Di2 mech (rear only), Sram GX 10-42 cassette and quarq (Sram Force in drag...) cranks
Just upgraded my CdF to GRX shifters/brake levers, GRX crank, XT 11-40 cassette and Ultegra RX rear mech. Had to use Acera-level MTB disc calipers paired to the GRX levers as I needed IS/post mount for the frame.
All works excellently together which means I no longer have a decent excuse for a new bike 🤔
